Tilleda is a small community located in Shawano County, Wisconsin, in the United States. It is an unincorporated census-designated place. This means it's a specific area where people live that the government counts for population, but it doesn't have its own city government. Tilleda is part of the town of Seneca.
You can find Tilleda on County Highway D. It's less than one mile (one kilometer) north of Wisconsin Highway 29. The community uses the 54978 ZIP code. In 2010, the population of Tilleda was 91 people.
Fun on the Ice
Tilleda is known for its exciting winter activities. The Tilleda pond, which is part of the Embarrass River, becomes a track for ice racing. Every January and February, the Tilleda Thunder program holds races there. Drivers compete on the frozen pond, making for a thrilling event!
A Little History and Work
Tilleda may have been started by German immigrants. These early settlers might have come from a village also called Tilleda (Kyffhaeuser) in central Germany.
The biggest employer in Tilleda is Wolverine Fire Apparatus. This company has large blue buildings in the area. They make special equipment for fire departments.
