Tillyhilt Castle was a historic building from the 1500s. It was a type of strong, tall house called a tower house. This castle was located about 6.5 miles (10.5 km) west of Ellon and 1 mile (1.6 km) northwest of Tarves in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

The land where Tillyhilt Castle stood was owned by the Gordon family. This was a powerful and well-known family in Scotland. John Gordon bought the land in 1575. It is believed that the castle was built sometime after he acquired the property.
What Did Tillyhilt Castle Look Like?

Today, not much of Tillyhilt Castle is left. You can only see a small part of its west wall. This wall is about 9 meters (30 feet) long and stands about 0.7 meters (2.3 feet) high.
Next to this wall, there is a mound of rubble covered in grass. This mound is about 10 meters (33 feet) wide and 1 meter (3.3 feet) high.

In the past, there was more evidence that suggested the castle had two towers. Experts believe the entire building was not very large, probably no more than 30 feet (9 meters) long.
