- He wrote a grant proposal that brought $750,000 to a historic neighborhood. This money helped start new economic projects near Fisk University, Meharry Medical College, and Tennessee State University in 2001. After this initial grant, an additional $2.5 million was invested in the area.
- He was recognized as one of Kentucky's Minority Educator and Retention Award winners. This award celebrates educators who do great work.
