Tim Whitnall, born on June 27, 1961, is an English actor, writer for plays and movies, and a screenwriter. He's famous for playing Angelo in the TV show Mike and Angelo and for being the narrator of the children's show Teletubbies from 1997 to 2001.

As a writer, Tim has won important awards like a BAFTA and an Olivier Award. He won these for his TV movie Best Possible Taste: The Kenny Everett Story and his play Morecambe. He also uses his voice for characters in cartoons like Fifi and the Flowertots, Roary the Racing Car, and Thomas & Friends.

Tim's Acting Journey

Tim Whitnall started his acting career in 1977 in a big musical called Elvis in London's West End. He got the part after an open audition. He then acted in many other famous musicals, including Grease and The Rocky Horror Show.

Early TV Roles

After appearing in TV shows related to his musicals, Tim started working more in television. He presented and wrote for BBC shows like "The Music Arcade" and "Music Time." He also began acting in TV dramas, playing Jake in The All Electric Amusement Arcade and Paul in Play for Today.

Tim is also well-known for his voice work. He did voice-overs for many TV commercials and cartoons. From the late 1980s to 2000, he was an announcer for The Children's Channel. He was also the voice of Keith the Alien, a mascot for Woolworths in 1998.

In 1990, he took on the role of Angelo, an alien, in the children's sci-fi show Mike and Angelo. He played Angelo for ten seasons until the show ended in 2000.

Tim Whitnall is also a successful writer. His play The Sociable Plover was first performed in 2005. Later, it was made into a movie called The Hide, which came out in 2009. For this movie, Tim was nominated for an award for Best First Screenplay.

His next play, Morecambe, was a tribute to the famous comedian Eric Morecambe. This play won a Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Festival in 2009. It then moved to a London theatre and toured the UK. Morecambe was nominated for two Laurence Olivier Awards in 2010 and won the 'Best Entertainment' category.

In 2012, BBC Four showed Tim's 90-minute TV drama Best Possible Taste: The Kenny Everett Story. This show looked at the life of another famous comedian, Kenny Everett. For this work, Tim won the Breakthrough Talent Award at the 2013 BAFTA Television Craft Awards.
