Timo Kotipelto's Musical Journey

Timo studied singing at a special music school in Helsinki. For a short time, he sang in a cover band. In the summer of 1994, he tried out for Stratovarius. The band was looking for a new singer. Timo was accepted, and his arrival helped the band become famous around the world.

The first album he recorded with Stratovarius was Fourth Dimension in 1995. After that, Stratovarius became a very popular band in the European heavy metal music scene. They recorded 12 more albums. They also performed at many big rock festivals.

In late 2003, Timo Kotipelto seemed to leave Stratovarius. This happened because of some disagreements within the band. However, he rejoined the band in January 2005. They then recorded the album Stratovarius. They also went on a big tour. This tour included North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. Later, in 2008, it was shared that his leaving was part of a big plan to get attention for the band.

Timo's Solo Music and Other Bands

In 2002, Timo Kotipelto started his own music project. He named it Kotipelto. So far, he has released three albums with this project. These albums are "Waiting For The Dawn", "Coldness", and "Serenity". Serenity was released on April 20, 2007.

Besides Stratovarius and Kotipelto, Timo has also sung for other bands. He provided extra vocals for Sonata Arctica's Silence album. He also sang lead vocals with his friend, Jani Liimatainen, in their band Cain's Offering. Timo also sang the song "Out of the White Hole" on Ayreon's 2000 album, Universal Migrator Part 2: Flight of the Migrator. In 2009, he sang on the song "Eye of the Storm" for Warmen's album Japanese Hospitality.
