Timothy Bedah (October 4, 1945 – June 18, 2017) was an amazing Navajo and American artist. He was a talented painter and a skilled goldsmith. Timothy Bedah was born in Tohatchi, New Mexico.

His artwork was shown all over the United States. Bedah was especially known for his beautiful silver and gold jewelry. He made rings, bracelets, and buckles. He won many awards for his unique jewelry designs.

Early Life and Talents

Timothy Bedah was born to Edward Bedah and Thelma Begay. His father was a Plains Indian from the Kiiyanii clan. His mother was Navajo from the Todacheenie clan.

From a young age, Timothy showed a lot of artistic promise. He was very good at painting and music. After finishing Gallup High School in 1965, he became a musician. He played the guitar and drums in a country music band.

Becoming a Goldsmith

Timothy Bedah worked for a while at Carson's Trading Post in Gallup, New Mexico. This is where he learned how to make things from silver. Making silver items is called silversmithing.

In the mid-1970s, he started working with gold too. He became a very skilled goldsmith. His jewelry became famous for its detailed work and beautiful designs.

Later Life

Timothy Bedah passed away in 2017. He died in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was buried in the Tohatchi Cemetery in his hometown. His art and jewelry continue to be admired.
