Timothy J. Davlin (born August 27, 1957 – died December 14, 2010) was an important leader in the U.S. city of Springfield, Illinois. He served as the mayor of Springfield from April 2003 until he passed away in December 2010. He was 53 years old.
Even though the mayor's job is officially non-political, Springfield has a strong history of political parties supporting candidates. Both major parties in Sangamon County often choose people to run for office. Timothy Davlin was supported by the Democratic Party.

About Timothy J. Davlin
Timothy Davlin was born on August 27, 1957. His parents were Robert E. and Norene O'Brien Davlin. He went to several Roman Catholic schools. These included Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Griffin High School. He also attended Springfield College, which is now called Benedictine University at Springfield. There, he earned his Associate Arts degree.
He later studied at Sangamon State University. This school is now known as the University of Illinois Springfield. He earned his bachelor's degree there. From 1980 to 1982, he worked for the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office. Timothy Davlin married Nancy L. Conway in 1977. They had four children together.
His Career Before Politics
Timothy Davlin began working in finance and insurance in 1981. He became a Registered Representative with AXA Advisor, LLC. In this role, he helped people and businesses with financial products and services.
He was also part of several important groups. He served on the board of directors for the Mid-West Truckers Association, Inc. He was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Illinois Municipal League. In addition, he was on the board of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
Davlin was very active in his community. He was a Past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus Council #364 for four terms. He was also a Past Trustee for the organization. He was one of the youngest people to be honored in the Knights of Columbus Diocesan Hall of Fame. This was for his excellent service to the group. He was a member of St. Agnes' Parish in Springfield. He helped with many fundraising committees when the church and its school were being built.
He was also a member of the Springfield Motor Boat Club and Illini Country Club.
Becoming Mayor of Springfield
Timothy Davlin was first elected mayor of Springfield in April 2003. He was re-elected for a second term on April 19, 2007. However, in that same election, candidates supported by the Republican Party won almost every seat on the Springfield City Council. Mayors and other city officials in Springfield serve for four years.

Passing Away
Timothy Davlin passed away at his home on December 14, 2010. He was 53 years old at the time. He was still serving as mayor when he died.
