Tinajo is a municipality located on the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, Spain. It's in the western part of the island. In 2018, about 6,119 people lived there. The area of Tinajo is about 135 square kilometers (52 square miles). This municipality is found on the northwest coast of Lanzarote. It is also northwest of Arrecife, which is the capital city of the island. The main town within this area is also called Tinajo.

Timanfaya National Park
A big part of the Timanfaya National Park is located in Tinajo. This park was created in 1974. It's famous for its many volcanoes and rugged, rocky landscapes. You can see how the earth has been shaped by volcanic eruptions here. The rest of the park is in the nearby municipality of Yaiza.
Chapel of Our Lady of Dolours
In the village of Mancha Blanca, you can find the chapel of Our Lady of Dolours. She is known as the patron saint of the entire island of Lanzarote. This means she is considered a special protector of the island.
