The Story of Tippecanoe Place
The house stayed in the Studebaker family for many years. Clement's son, George, lived there until 1933. After that, the house was empty for a while.
New Uses for the Mansion
In 1941, a person named E. M. Morris bought the house. He gave it to the city of South Bend. The plan was to use it as a school for children with special needs. However, during World War II, the house had a different job. It became the main office for the Red Cross in the area.
Later, in 1970, a local group took over the house. This group, called Southhold Restorations, Inc., works to save old buildings. They helped protect this important piece of history.
