Humberto "Tito" Nieves (born June 4, 1958) is a famous Puerto Rican musician. He is often called "El Pavarotti de la Salsa" because of his amazing voice. Tito Nieves became one of the most popular salsa singers in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Early Life and Music Beginnings

Humberto "Tito" Nieves was born in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico. He grew up in the United States.

Tito started his music journey with a group called Orquesta Cimarron in New York City. In 1977, he joined singer Héctor Lavoe's Orchestra. He also became part of the group Conjunto Clasico.

Starting a Solo Career

Tito Nieves began his solo career in 1986. He became special because he sang salsa music in English. This was quite new at the time!

He is well-known for his hit songs like "El Amor Más Bonito" and "Sonámbulo". His English-salsa hit, "I Like It Like That," released in 1996, was also very popular.

From his album Fabricando Fantasias, songs like "Fabricando Fantasias" and "Ya No Queda Nada" became hits. He worked with other artists like La India, Nicky Jam, and K-Mil on these songs.

Tito Nieves went to Xaverian High School in Brooklyn, New York. There, he played in a Spanish-speaking band called Makondo. Even though he left before finishing school, he received an honorary diploma in 1994.

Later Music Projects

In 2007, Tito Nieves released an album called Canciones Clasicas De Marco Antonio Solís. This album was a special tribute to the Mexican singer, Marco Antonio Solís.

More recently, on August 12, 2021, Tito Nieves was featured on Norberto Vélez's YouTube channel. He was the main singer for an episode called "Sesiones Desde La Loma Ep. 19."
