Tizayuca is a town and one of the 84 municipalities of Hidalgo, located in central Mexico. The city of Tizayuca is the main center of the municipality. It is a growing area, with a population of 60,265 in the city and 168,302 people living in the whole municipality.

Tizayuca covers an area of about 76.81 square kilometers (29.66 square miles). This makes it a medium-sized area within the state of Hidalgo.
Location and Nearby Cities
Tizayuca is special because it's the only part of Hidalgo that is officially connected to the Mexico City Metropolitan Area. This means it's considered part of the larger urban area around Mexico City. The metropolitan area of Pachuca is also very close, bordering Tizayuca to the north and west.
Population Growth in Tizayuca
Tizayuca has seen a lot of growth in recent years. In 2005, the municipality had about 56,573 people. By 2010, this number grew to 97,461. The most recent count in 2020 showed a population of 168,302. This rapid increase means more homes, schools, and businesses are being built.
History of Tizayuca
Tizayuca has a long and interesting history. It was first settled by the Nahua people, an indigenous group, long before Europeans arrived in Mexico. This early settlement was part of the Valley of Mexico, a region known for its ancient cultures.
