Greater Mexico City is a huge urban area that includes Mexico City and many towns around it. Its official name is the Mexico City Metropolitan Area (Área Metropolitana de la Ciudad de México). It's like a giant puzzle made up of Mexico City itself, plus 41 nearby towns called municipalities. These towns are in the states of Mexico and Hidalgo.
