Tmetolophota arotis is a moth of the family Noctuidae. It was described by Edward Meyrick in 1887 from specimens obtained from Blenheim, Christchurch and Rakaia. It is endemic to New Zealand. In 2019 Robert J. B. Hoare published a paper in which he undertook a major review of New Zealand noctuids. Hoare, having inspected the type material of this species, placed it within the genus Ichneutica.
The larvae feed on Phormium tenax.
