Main ingredients Sliced bread

Toast is simply bread that has been heated until it becomes golden brown and crispy. You can make toast using a special machine called a toaster, a grill, or even over an open fire. When bread is toasted, it gets darker in color and much crunchier than regular bread.

Many people enjoy toast with different toppings. You can spread things like butter, jam, or honey on it. Some people even like to add cheese to make a yummy cheese on toast. But remember, toppings are optional! Some people prefer their toast plain, also known as "dry toast."

Toast is also great for making "toasties" or "grilled cheese sandwiches." For these, you put a filling between two slices of buttered bread. Then, you heat them in a toastie maker or on a grill until the bread is crispy and the filling is warm and melted. Popular fillings include cheese, jam, peanut butter, and chocolate spread.

How to Make Toast

Making toast is quite easy! For thousands of years, people have been baking bread in ovens. You can even make toast in an oven, just like people did long ago.

Today, the most common way to make toast is with a toaster. A toaster has slots where you put slices of bread. When you push down a lever, heating elements inside the toaster warm up the bread. This heat removes moisture from the bread, making it crispy and changing its color.

There are many types of sliced bread available in stores. Some brands are even made to be extra good for toasting!
