Todd Kerns is a talented rock musician from Canada. He has played in many bands, but he is best known for his work with The Age of Electric. Currently, he plays bass guitar and sings backup for Slash in the band Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators. Todd is also the main singer for the band Blackbird Angels, which he started with Tracii Guns.

Todd Kerns' Music Career
Early Years: The Age of Electric
Todd Kerns was the lead singer and guitarist for a hard rock band called The Age of Electric. His brother John Kerns played bass, Ryan Dahle played guitar and sang backup, and Kurt Dahle played drums. Their most popular album was Make a Pest a Pet, released in 1997.
This album included the hit song "Remote Control." It reached number 9 on the Canadian music charts. The album later earned a gold certification in Canada in 1998. "Remote Control" was also featured on the very popular Big Shiny Tunes 2 album.
Todd also sang backup for the Matthew Good Band on their albums Underdogs (1997) and Beautiful Midnight (1999). In 1999, he joined other Canadian musicians to record a cover of Prince's song "1999."
New Bands and Solo Music
In the early 2000s, Todd formed a band called Static in Stereo with his brothers John and Ryan. They released their self-titled album in 2002. The band was nominated for "Best New Group" at the Canadian Radio Music Awards.
In 2004, Todd released his first solo rock album, Go Time. He also produced an album for Britt Black in 2005. Later, in 2007, Todd toured Europe with Brent Muscat and Faster Pussycat. That same year, he and Brent Muscat started the band Sin City Sinners. This band became known for playing many hard rock cover songs and their own original music. Todd recorded four studio albums with The Sin City Sinners.
Joining Slash's Band
In 2010, Todd Kerns joined the famous guitarist Slash on tour. He played bass and sang backup. The band also included Brent Fitz, Myles Kennedy, and Bobby Schneck. They recorded a live concert album called Made in Stoke 24/7/11. This album was recorded in Stoke-on-Trent, England, where Slash was born.
Their first studio album together was Apocalyptic Love, released on May 22, 2012. Todd played bass and sang backup on this album. The song "You're a Lie" from the album became a number 1 hit on active rock charts in Canada. The album also earned gold certifications in Australia, New Zealand, and Poland.
Touring the World with Slash
Todd continued to play with Slash, Brent Fitz, and Myles Kennedy on their second album, World on Fire. This album was released in 2014. It sold well in the United States, reaching number 10 on The Billboard 200 chart. The main song, "World on Fire," also hit number one on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart. The band toured for this album from July 2014 to December 2015.
In 2014, Todd released his first acoustic album, Borrowing Trouble. That same year, readers of Loudwire magazine voted him "Bassist of the Year." In 2016, Todd joined Brent Fitz and Cory Churko in a Canadian cover band called Toque. Toque even performed at the Juno Fest in 2018.
In 2017, Todd Kerns and The Age of Electric reunited for a 20th-anniversary tour across Canada. Todd also performed in the show Raiding the Rock Vault in Branson, Missouri. He was part of their 1000th show celebration in Las Vegas.
Recent Projects and Recognition
In 2018, Slash announced a new tour called "Living the Dream." The band released the single "Driving Rain" in July and the full album in September 2018.
Todd Kerns received a special honor in 2018. He got a star on the B.C. Entertainment Walk of Fame. This recognizes his contributions to entertainment in British Columbia, Canada.
In early 2020, Todd released an album called Exile on Fremont Street, Ten Years in Exile. He also started a new hard rock band called Minefield. Their first song was "Alone Together."
Todd also began a video series called "Todd Kerns Talks To..." In these videos, he chats with other musicians and people from the music industry.
In late 2021, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators released new music. They put out the single "The River is Rising" and announced their next album would be called "4." A second single, "Fill My World," followed in December.
In 2022, a new band called Heroes and Monsters was announced. It features Todd Kerns on bass and vocals, Stef Burns on guitar, and Will Hunt on drums. Their first album is expected in early 2023. Todd also spoke at INDIE WEEK CANADA in November 2022.
