Todds Tavern is a small community in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, in the United States. It's known for being the place where the Battle of Todd's Tavern happened during the American Civil War.
History
Todds Tavern played a key role in a cavalry battle. This battle took place on May 7–8, 1864. It happened between two larger battles: the Wilderness and Spotsylvania Court House. These events were part of the American Civil War.
The Tavern's Name
The area got its name from a tavern located on Brock Road. This tavern was named after Charles Todd, who passed away around 1850. The Todd family sold the property in 1845. Later, it was sold again in 1869.
Todds Tavern Today
Even now, the crossroads where the old tavern once stood is still called "Todd's Tavern." Today, you can find a convenience store at this historic spot.
