Tom LaBonge (born October 6, 1953 – died January 7, 2021) was an American politician. He was a member of the Democratic Party. Tom LaBonge served on the Los Angeles City Council from 2001 to 2015. He represented the city's 4th district.

Early Life and Education
Tom LaBonge grew up in Los Angeles, California. He went to John Marshall High School. After high school, he studied sociology at California State University, Los Angeles. He earned his bachelor's degree from the university.
Public Service Career
Tom LaBonge spent many years working for the city of Los Angeles. Before he became a council member, he held several important roles. He worked for the Department of Water and Power. He was also a special assistant to Mayor Richard Riordan. Later, he served as the chief deputy to Council President John Ferraro.
Serving on the City Council
In 2001, Tom LaBonge was elected to the Los Angeles City Council. He won a special election to take over the seat after John Ferraro passed away. He represented the 4th district of Los Angeles. This district included many different neighborhoods and people.
During his time on the City Council, LaBonge worked on various committees. He was the chairman of the Arts, Parks, Health and Aging Committee. He also helped lead the Transportation Committee. He was passionate about improving the city for its residents.
Advocate for Griffith Park
Tom LaBonge was a strong supporter of Griffith Park. This is one of the biggest urban parks in the United States. It was located in his council district. He worked hard to protect and improve the park for everyone to enjoy.
Personal Life
Tom LaBonge married Brigid Manning in 1988. She is a graphic designer and illustrator. They lived in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles. They had two children, Mary-Cate and Charles.
Death
Tom LaBonge passed away on January 7, 2021. He was 67 years old.
