Tomasz Paweł Grodzki (born May 13, 1958) is a Polish politician, doctor, and surgeon. He has been the Marshal of the Senate (which is like the speaker of one part of Poland's parliament) since November 12, 2019. He won this role by getting more votes than Stanisław Karczewski in the Senate.
About Tomasz Grodzki
Education and Medical Career
Tomasz Grodzki studied at the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin. He graduated in 1983. Later, he earned his doctoral degree in 1991. He continued his studies and became a Medical Science Professor in 2010. He worked as a scientist at the Pomeranian Medical University.
Political Journey
Tomasz Grodzki started his political career in local government. He was elected as a councilor for the City Council of Szczecin. This happened in the local elections of 2006, 2010, and 2014. He ran with the Civic Platform party, even though he wasn't officially a member.
In 2014, he tried to become a member of the European Parliament. He received many votes, but not enough to win a seat.
In 2015, he ran for the Senate. The Senate is one of the two parts of Poland's parliament. He won a seat in the Senate, representing the Szczecin area.
Before the 2019 election, he was suggested as a possible Minister of Health. He successfully won his Senate seat again in that election. On November 12, 2019, he was voted to be the Marshal of the Senate. This means he leads the Senate.

Tomasz Grodzki is married to Joanna. She is an eye specialist. They have two daughters together.
