Tomoyoshi Ikeya (池谷 友良, Ikeya Tomoyoshi), born on June 17, 1962, is a Japanese football player who used to play the game. After his playing days, he became a football manager, which is like a coach in charge of a team.
Tomoyoshi Ikeya's Playing Career
Tomoyoshi Ikeya was born in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, on June 17, 1962. He loved football from a young age. After finishing his studies at Chuo University, he started his professional football journey.
He played as a midfielder for a team called Hitachi. He was part of this team from 1985 until 1992. This was his main playing career before he moved into coaching.
Tomoyoshi Ikeya's Coaching Career
After he stopped playing football, Tomoyoshi Ikeya decided to become a coach. He started coaching at the same club where he used to play, Hitachi. This club later changed its name to Kashiwa Reysol. He began coaching there in 1992.
In 2004, he got a big promotion and became the main manager of Kashiwa Reysol. However, he only managed the team for a few months. In July of that year, he left the club.
In 2005, Tomoyoshi Ikeya joined a new team, Roasso Kumamoto. He was their manager for several years, from 2005 to 2008. Later, in 2012, he took on a different role at Roasso Kumamoto. He became the Chairman of the club, which means he was in charge of the club's overall direction.
He also returned to managing Roasso Kumamoto for short periods in 2013 and 2017. In the 2017 season, the team finished 21st out of 22 clubs. After that season, he decided to step down as manager and left the club.
