Toni Deion Pressley (born February 19, 1990) is an American professional soccer player. She plays as a defender for Afturelding in Iceland. Toni has played for many teams, including the Orlando Pride and Washington Spirit in the NWSL. She also played for Ryazan VDV in Russia's top women's soccer league. Pressley was a member of various United States national youth teams. She also played for the United States women's national under-23 soccer team.

Early Life and High School Soccer

Toni Pressley grew up in Melbourne, Florida. She went to West Shore Junior – Senior High School. There, she was the team captain in her senior year. She helped her team reach the Class 3A Regional finals. In 2007, she was named to the NSCAA/adidas Youth All-America Team. She also received first team All-Space Coast honors. In 2008, she was named a Parade All-American. Soccer Buzz magazine also listed her as a top 50 recruit.

Pressley was also a talented athlete in track and field. In 2005, she won a district and regional championship in the 4 × 100 meter relay. In 2007, she won the district championship in the shot put.

Toni was part of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) Region III team for three years. She was the top scorer in the Region III league in 2006 and 2007. She also played for a local club team called Space Coast United.

College Soccer at Florida State

From 2008 to 2011, Pressley attended Florida State University. She studied criminology and played soccer for the Seminoles. She played as both a defender and a forward. She played in 96 games during her college career, which is one of the most for her team. As a freshman, she was named to the All-ACC Second Team.

She was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week once. This was after she scored a winning goal against the University of Florida.

Pressley was considered for the Hermann Trophy in 2010 and 2011. This award goes to the best college soccer player. In 2010, she received many honors. These included Soccer America MVP: First-Team All-American and NSCAA All-American Fourth Team. She was also ranked number 41 on the Top Drawer National Top 100 Women. In 2011, she was named to the NSCAA All-American Third Team.

Professional Soccer Career

Early Club Teams

Pressley started her professional career in the W-League. In 2008, she played for the Boston Renegades. She appeared in five games for the team. From 2009 to 2010, she played for the Washington Freedom Futures. She played in eight games and had one assist.

Drafted to Philadelphia and WPSL Elite

In 2012, Toni was chosen by the Philadelphia Independence in the 2012 WPS Draft. However, the league stopped playing before the season began.

Later in 2012, she played as a center-back for Western New York Flash in the WPSL Elite. Pressley helped the Flash win the league championship. She scored a goal in the last minute of the game to tie it. Her team then won in a penalty shootout.

Playing in Russia

Pressley played for Ryazan VDV in Russia during the 2012–2013 season. This gave her experience playing soccer internationally.

Washington Spirit and NWSL

In June 2013, Pressley joined the Washington Spirit in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). She played her first game for the Spirit on June 15, 2013. This game was against her former team, the Western New York Flash.

Moving to Western New York Flash and Houston Dash

In February 2015, Pressley was traded back to the Western New York Flash. She played a full game in their season opener. The next month, she was traded to the Houston Dash.

Orlando Pride Years

On November 2, 2015, the Orlando Pride selected Pressley in the 2015 NWSL Expansion Draft. She played for the Pride until 2022. In October 2019, after facing a health challenge, Pressley returned to play in the Pride's final game of the season. She signed a new contract with the team in January 2021.

Loan to Canberra United

In October 2017, Pressley joined the Australian club Canberra United. She played for them during the 2017–18 W-League season.

Playing in Iceland

In March 2023, Pressley signed a one-year contract with Breiðablik. This team plays in the Icelandic Besta deild kvenna, which is the top women's soccer league in Iceland.

International Soccer for the United States

Pressley has played for several United States youth national teams. These include the under-17, under-18, under-20, and under-23 teams.

She was part of the under-20 team that won the CONCACAF Qualifier. This win helped them get a spot in the FIFA World Cup. She played every minute of every game in that tournament. She also had an assist in a 5–0 win against Switzerland. The United States team reached the quarter-finals of the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Germany. In June 2011, Pressley played with the U-23 team in the Three Nations Tournament in Sweden.

Pressley also played for the United States women's national under-23 soccer team. She helped them win the Four Nations tournament in Spain.

Personal Life and Interests

Toni Pressley is a vegan and loves animals. She believes that being vegan has helped her become a better athlete. In 2023, she released a cookbook called Girls Gone Veg. She wrote it with her former Orlando Pride teammate, Ali Riley. The book features plant-based recipes.
