Tonye T. Patano (born October 16, 1961) is an American actress. She is probably best known for playing Heylia James in the TV show Weeds.
She has also appeared in many other TV shows. These include Law & Order, Sex and the City, Monk, and Third Watch. Patano was also in the first cast of the Broadway play 45 Seconds from Broadway, written by Neil Simon.

Acting Career
Movies and TV Shows
Tonye Patano's first acting job on screen was in a TV movie called The Jesse Owens Story in 1984. Since then, she has been a guest star on many TV series. Some of these are Sex and the City, Monk, Third Watch, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Elementary. She has played different characters in the Law & Order TV shows.
She played Carolyn in the movie Highway Heartbreaker (1992). She also had a small part in A Price Above Rubies (1998). Other movies she appeared in include Little Manhattan and The Great New Wonderful, both released in 2005.
In 2006, Tonye Patano and her Weeds co-stars were nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. This award was for their excellent performance as a team in a comedy series. Two years later, in 2008, Patano was nominated for an NAACP Image Award. This was for her great supporting role as Heylia. She left Weeds after the third season but came back for some episodes in season 7.
After Weeds, she played Emily in the Hallmark movie Loving Leah (2009). Patano also played Beverly, a counselor, in A Vigilante (2018). In the drama Jack of the Red Hearts (2015), she played a probation officer.
Stage Acting
In 1997, Patano played Nurse O'Neil in a play called The Sunshine Boys. This play was shown at the George Street Playhouse. One reviewer said she was "excellent" in her role. In 2000, she won a Connecticut Critics Circle Award. She received it for being part of a great cast in the play From the Mississippi Delta. Patano appeared on Broadway as Ms. Gravátt in 45 Seconds from Broadway (2001).
Her acting in this play was praised by critics. One critic called her "delightful" and "magnetic." Another thought she was superb as Mama Nadi.
Personal Life
When she was 35 years old, Tonye Patano was diagnosed with diabetes. In 2005, she had a stroke.
