The Name of Torekov
Have you ever wondered how Torekov got its name? There are two main ideas.
An Old Legend
One old story says the town is named after a girl called Thora. She was sadly drowned by her stepmother. Her body was later found on the shore of Torekov. A blind man buried her, and after he did, he could see again! Because of this miracle, Thora became known as Saint Thora.
A Simpler Explanation
However, there's also a more straightforward explanation for the name. It comes from two old words. The first word, thora, means "height." The second word, kove, means "cabin" or "hut." So, Torekov could simply mean "cabin on the height."
How Many People Live in Torekov?
