Torralba de Calatrava has many interesting old buildings to explore.
The Patio de Comedias: An Ancient Theater
The Patio de Comedias is a recently found and rebuilt old theater. It is part of the Festival de Teatro Clásico de Almagro, a classical theater festival. This theater was built next to the Hermitage of the Immaculate Conception, where parts of an old castle were found.
The Patio can hold 740 people. Its main area, the central patio, can seat 460 people. When it was restored, workers kept the original arched structures and drawings carved into the walls. This theater is a very important cultural place for the town. Records show that plays and puppet shows happened here until the late 1800s. The first known theater event dates back to 1578.
Church of the Holy Trinity
The Church of the Holy Trinity was officially opened in 1541. Inside, you can still see a beautiful wooden ceiling made by Martín de Cuartas. There is also a carved picture from the main altar, which was built in the early 1600s. The church's inside, from the 1500s, has one wide main room.
Hermitage of the Holy Christ of Comfort
The Hermitage of the Holy Christ of Comfort has one main room and a dome over the middle section. Three things stand out here: a precious statue of Christ, a silver lamp from the late 1800s, and a wonderful Baroque bell tower outside. This bell tower, built in the 1700s, is made of brick and decorated with columns and fancy designs.
Hermitage of the Immaculate Conception
The Hermitage of the Immaculate Conception was built on the site of an old fortress that was the start of Torralba. This hermitage was a main church until 1544. It has one main room with a low ceiling. Outside, its brick bell tower is very noticeable.
The Bullring
The Bullring was built by a businessman named Don José Santa Cruz. This charming arena can hold many people and is kept in very good condition.
