Toshiaki Imai (born December 29, 1954) is a Japanese football coach and a former player. He has coached many teams, helping players grow and improve their skills.

Early Life and Education
Toshiaki Imai was born in Saitama, Japan, on December 29, 1954. He went to Waseda University, which is a well-known university in Japan. His education helped him prepare for a career in football.
Playing Football
Imai played football for the team called Fujitsu from 1977 to 1981. This team later became known as Kawasaki Frontale. Playing professionally gave him a lot of experience on the field.
Coaching Career Highlights
After he stopped playing, Toshiaki Imai became a football coach. His first coaching job was with Tokyo Gas in 1993. He also coached Shiroki FC Serena in 1996 and Kawasaki Frontale in 2000.
Coaching in Chinese Taipei
In November 2005, Imai took on an exciting new challenge. He was asked by the Japan Football Association to coach the Chinese Taipei national football team. This was his first time coaching an international team. He signed a one-year contract in December 2005.
Even though the team did not win many big international games, many people believed Imai had a good impact. He helped develop football in Taiwan. In December 2006, he extended his contract. He even coached the Chinese Taipei women's national football team in 2007. They were trying to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games.
Returning to Japan and New Challenges
In 2008, Imai went back to Japan. He became the coach for his old university team, Waseda University.
In 2016, he returned to coach the Chinese Taipei national football team again. However, his time with the team ended in October that year. By January 2017, he was coaching Global Cebu F.C. in the Philippines Football League.
Later, in 2020, Imai briefly coached Taichung Futuro F.C. in the Taiwan Football Premier League. He has had a long and varied career, coaching teams in different countries.
