Total Drama Action is the second exciting season of the Total Drama television series. It first aired on June 11, 2009. This season brings back some of your favorite players from Total Drama Island for a whole new set of challenges!
The Game Begins
Just like the first season, Total Drama Action is an animated reality television show. It makes fun of many things you see in real-life reality TV shows.
At the end of Total Drama Island, the winner, Owen, gave up his C$100,000 prize money. He did this for a chance to win C$1,000,000 in a new challenge open to all 22 original contestants. But things got messy, and 14 contestants ended up tying!
So, the show's host, Chris McLean, had to start a new competition. He invited all 14 tied contestants to an old movie studio lot in Toronto. This new show was called "Total Drama Action." Chris told everyone that the challenges would be based on different movie genres. Chef Hatchet, just like before, was in charge of making sure the contestants had what they needed.
Teams and Challenges
After a quick start, two contestants, Geoff and Bridgette, were eliminated. Then, a challenge decided who would be the leaders of the two new teams. Gwen became the captain of the Screaming Gaffers, and Trent led the Killer Grips.
The challenges changed between "reward challenges" and "elimination challenges." If a team won a reward challenge, they got a special prize. If they lost an elimination challenge, they had to vote one of their own teammates off the show. The person voted off would take the "walk of shame" and leave in the "Lame-o-sine."
Sometimes, contestants came back! Izzy returned after a voting mistake, and Courtney, who didn't even qualify for the season at first, managed to sue the show and get a spot.
The Final Stretch
When only seven contestants were left, the teams were gone. Everyone competed on their own. Chris even secretly hired Owen to cause some drama and make things interesting for the show.
Finally, only two contestants remained: Beth and Duncan. In the end, Duncan was named the winner of Total Drama Action! However, in an alternate ending, Beth was the one who won.
TDA Aftermath Show
Throughout the season, there was a special show called TDA Aftermath. It was hosted by Geoff and Bridgette, who were eliminated early on. On TDA Aftermath, they interviewed contestants who had been voted off, asking them about their experiences on Total Drama Action.
Other contestants from Total Drama Island who didn't make it into Total Drama Action, and other eliminated players, also joined the show. TDA Aftermath showed "never-before-seen footage" from the main show. It also had fun segments like "That's Gonna Leave a Mark," which showed contestants getting hurt in funny ways, and "Truth or...", where contestants were interviewed and got a silly punishment if they lied.
The very last challenge of Total Drama Action led the final two contestants, Beth and Duncan, right to the Aftermath set. They both arrived at the same time, so the winner had to be decided right there. After many ideas from the other contestants failed, Chris McLean returned and had the eliminated contestants vote for the winner. Duncan was chosen as the winner!
