About the Show
The show takes place on a lovely farm called Springhill Farm. Here, the main character, Tractor Tom, and his friends have many exciting adventures. His friends include humans, animals, and other vehicles. They all work and play together on the farm.
In the first series, Liza Tarbuck voiced Farmer Fi, and James Nesbitt voiced Matt. Enn Reitel was the narrator. The vehicles in this series communicated using their sounds. For example, Tom would chug, Buzz would rev, and Wheezy would splutter.
For the second series, new voice actors were brought in for Fi and Matt. The vehicles also gained the ability to talk! Some of the vehicles from the first series were even redesigned a little to have moving mouths. Enn Reitel continued to be the narrator for both series.
Money from the sales of the first series' DVDs helped the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity. The show's catchy slogan was: "Tractor Tom, what would we do without you?"
Meet the Characters
Farm Vehicles
Tom - He is a happy, bright red tractor. Tom is always positive and tries to help his friends solve their problems. Sometimes, he can be a bit scared of the dark. Tom knows all the safety rules and can get upset if someone doesn't follow them. He seems to be very close friends with Buzz.
Buzz - This is a young, curious blue and yellow quadbike. People sometimes say he is "too small." In the first series, he often got into trouble with Snicker the foal. He is probably Tom's best friend. In the second series, Buzz became very well-behaved and enjoys helping Tom.
Wheezy - He is the farm's slow, old, and big yellow combine harvester. In the first series, he loved telling stories. Wheezy likes to stay in the barn, which is where most of the vehicles live. Sometimes, in the second series, he doesn't like to leave the barn.
Rev - This is a large purple pick-up truck that belongs to Matt, the farmhand. Rev often brags and hates coming in second or last in a race. He's not a bad guy, but he can be a bit difficult sometimes. He is a good friend to Tom. Rev doesn't like getting dirty or carrying messy things.
Rora - She joined the show at the start of the second series. Rora is a white and hot pink motorbike. She became Farmer Fi's vehicle for driving on roads. Rora is full of energy and is good friends with Dusty. She also has a friendly competition with Rev. When she's not driving Fi, she likes to tease Rev. She can be a bit bossy.
Dusty - She was also introduced early in the second series. Dusty is a yellow and orange aeroplane. She is energetic and friendly. Dusty seems to be good friends with Rora. She talks in her sleep, which once kept Rora awake. Dusty hates having baths because she gets soap in her eyes. She loves doing loop-the-loops in the sky.
Humans on the Farm
Farmer Fi - She is the only farmer at Springhill Farm. In the first series, she wears a pink shirt and hat, with blue trousers. She has blonde hair. In the second series, she wears blue overalls. She only needs one helper, Matt, because her farm is quite small. Liza Tarbuck voiced her in the first series.
Matt - He lives in a small silver caravan near the farm. Matt often helps with the farm work. He can be quite forgetful and a bit clumsy, especially in the second series. He owns Rev the truck and drives him everywhere. James Nesbitt voiced him in the first series.
Farm Animals
Hens - There are three brown hens living on Springhill Farm.
Wack - One of the two ducks on the farm. He wears an orange collar.
Bach - The other duck, who wears a blue collar.
Riff - The farm's sheepdog. Riff likes to hang out with the other animals and enjoys rounding up the sheep.
Purdey - Farmer Fi's pet cat. Purdey is quite lazy and is friends with Wheezy.
Mo - The only cow on the farm. Mo sometimes gets lonely but is otherwise a normal cow.
Winnie - A horse who usually isn't very excited, unless there are carrots involved!
Snicker - Winnie's foal. Snicker likes to get into mischief with Buzz. His favorite foods are sugar cubes and carrots.
The Sheep - There are eight sheep on the farm. They sometimes use strange things like slides or even baths! They also love to get into trouble and sneak into Matt's caravan.
Other Characters Mentioned
Farmer Allsop - He runs the farm next to Farmer Fi's. He is mentioned many times but never appears in the show.
Roly - Farmer Fi has borrowed Farmer Allsop's harvester a couple of times when Wheezy wasn't available. Roly looks just like Wheezy but is blue and much faster. He was a bit of a bully to Wheezy at first, but they later became friends.
Mr. Aziz - He is only mentioned once when Rev was carrying manure for his roses. He does not appear in the show.
Rory - He looks just like Rora but is orange. Rory only appeared in one episode of the first season, called "Rodeo," when Matt hired him.
The Wild Ducks - Three wild ducks appeared in the episode "Wild Ducks." They were migrating and stopped at the farm to rest. They were male Mallard Ducks.
