Trafalgar is a small town located in Johnson County, Indiana, United States. It is found within two areas called Nineveh and Hensley townships. In 2020, about 1,422 people lived there.
Trafalgar is located about 20 miles (32 kilometers) south of Indianapolis, a major city in Indiana.

History of Trafalgar
How Trafalgar Began
In the early 1850s, a man named Colonel Avery M. Buckner planned a new town. It was built along a railroad line that connected Franklin and Martinsville. The town was first called Liberty. However, its name was soon changed to Trafalgar.
Moving the Town Center
Later, Ezekiel W. Morgan came to Trafalgar to open a store. He could not find a good spot near the railroad. So, he bought land in a nearby village that George Bridges had started.
In 1868, the railroad was rebuilt. It became part of the Big Four railway system. The town's post office and its official name were moved to Morgan's store. By 1870, the older and newer parts of Trafalgar had grown together. The town was officially made one place for a short time.
Trafalgar Today
The current town of Trafalgar was officially re-established in 1946. By the 1990s, the town had grown a lot, by 266%. The name of the town, Trafalgar, honors a famous naval battle called the Battle of Trafalgar.

Trafalgar covers a total area of about 2.64 square miles (6.84 square kilometers). All of this area is land. There are no large bodies of water within the town limits.

Trafalgar is part of the Nineveh-Hensley-Jackson United School Corporation. This school district serves the local area. The town is home to Indian Creek Senior High School, which is one of seven high schools in Johnson County.
Trafalgar also has Indian Creek Middle School and Indian Creek Elementary School. These schools serve younger students in the community.
