Trail is a small, quiet community in the northern part of Ozark County, Missouri, in the United States. It's not a city or town with its own government, but rather an unincorporated community.
You can find Trail about 22 miles (or 35 kilometers) northeast of a town called Gainesville. To get there, you'd take Missouri Route 14 in Douglas County and then head south on route AC. The community is right next to a stream called Trail Creek. This creek flows into Bryant Creek about a mile away. There's also a cemetery for the community, located about a mile northeast along Trail Creek.
The Story of Trail's Name
How Did Trail Get Its Name?
The community of Trail has an interesting past. Back in 1890, a post office was opened here. It was actually named "Toledo" at first! This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years, staying open until 1963.
The name "Trail" for the community came from a family who lived in the area. So, it was named after some of the very first people who settled there!
