The Travelers Tower is a very tall building, known as a skyscraper, located in downtown Hartford, Connecticut. It stands about 527 feet (161 meters) high and has 24 main floors. When it was finished in 1919, it was one of the tallest buildings in the entire world! Today, it is the second tallest building in Hartford. This impressive tower serves as the main office for the Travelers Insurance Company. The person who designed this building was an architect named Donn Barber. He also designed other important buildings in Connecticut, like the State Library.

A Landmark in New England
For many years, the Travelers Tower was the tallest building in all of New England. It held this record until 1964, when the Prudential Tower was built in Boston. Even after that, it remained the tallest building in Connecticut until another building, City Place I, was completed in 1984.
How Many Floors?
The Travelers Tower is unique because it's actually built on top of two other buildings. This means the tower part starts at what would be the tenth floor of the whole structure. Because of this, some people consider it to have 34 floors in total, even though the tower itself has 24 stories.
High-Up Views and Wildlife
Near the top of the tower, on the 27th floor, there is an open observation deck. This spot offers amazing views of the city below. The very top of the building has also become a special home for peregrine falcons. These fast birds of prey have nested there for many years. People used to watch the falcons using web cameras. However, due to some work being done on the tower, the cameras were moved, and the falcons' nest box was relocated to a nearby building called the Travelers Plaza Building.
