Professional Baseball Journey
Starting with the Los Angeles Dodgers
Trayvon Robinson was chosen by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2005 MLB Draft. This happened right after he finished high school in Los Angeles.
He spent a few years playing for different minor league teams with the Dodgers. In 2009, while playing for the Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino, he was really good! He hit for a high average, hit 15 home runs, and stole 43 stolen bases. He was even picked to be an All-Star for his league that year.
In 2010, he played for the Chattanooga Lookouts. He kept up his great performance, hitting well and stealing 38 bases. He was chosen for another All-Star Game. After that season, he played in a special league called the Arizona Fall League and was named a "Rising Star."
By 2011, Trayvon was playing for the Albuquerque Isotopes, which is a Triple-A team (just one step below Major League Baseball). He was selected as an All-Star again and even took part in a Home Run Derby competition! He hit 26 home runs in 100 games for the Isotopes.
Playing in Major League Baseball with the Seattle Mariners
On July 31, 2011, Trayvon Robinson was traded to the Seattle Mariners. Just a few days later, on August 5, he made his big debut in Major League Baseball! He started the game in left field. In one amazing play, he caught a ball that was going to be a home run, saving two runs for his team!
In his second time at bat, he got his first Major League hit. The very next day, he hit his first Major League home run! He played in 90 games for the Mariners in 2011 and 2012.
Journey Through Other Teams
After his time with the Mariners, Trayvon played for several other professional baseball teams. He was traded to the Baltimore Orioles in 2012. He also had a second chance to play for the Los Angeles Dodgers organization in 2014.
Over the next few years, he played for teams like the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Detroit Tigers. He also played in independent leagues, which are professional leagues not directly connected to Major League Baseball. He played for the Somerset Patriots and the Long Island Ducks.
Success with the Lancaster Barnstormers
Trayvon found a long-term home with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He first joined them in 2016 and played for them for several seasons. He had some great years, hitting well and helping the team.
In 2019, he signed a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. He continued to play well in Triple-A, hitting for a good average and hitting home runs. He was even named an All-Star for the International League.
After a brief time with the Chicago White Sox organization, Trayvon returned to the Lancaster Barnstormers in 2021. He continued to be a strong player for them. In both 2022 and 2023, he helped the Barnstormers win the Atlantic League championship!
In 2024, Trayvon re-signed with the Barnstormers for his fourth year in a row. This time, he also took on a new role: he became the team's hitting coach! This means he helps other players improve their batting skills while still playing himself.
