Treasure Hunters is an exciting adventure book for kids. It was written by James Patterson, along with Chris Grabenstein and Mark Shulman. This book came out in 2013. It is the very first book in the popular Treasure Hunters series.

The story is about the Kidd family. They are known for finding amazing treasures. But their lives change when their parents suddenly go missing. The Kidd children must now go on their biggest treasure hunt ever. They work together to outsmart pirates and other treasure hunters. They follow clues to learn what happened to their parents. The kids also hope to find out if their parents are still alive.

The Kidd Family's Big Adventure

The Kidd siblings used to live a happy life on their ship, The Lost. There are four of them: Storm, Tommy, Bick, and Beck. Their father, Thomas Kidd, disappeared during a big storm. Their mother had also gone missing three months earlier. She vanished while they were in Cyprus.

The Kidds held a small funeral for their father. They thought he was gone forever. But they kept up their family business: treasure hunting. Their next stop was the Cayman Islands. This was where they planned to hunt for treasure before the storm.

A Secret Room and a New Clue

The four siblings went into a secret part of their ship. It was called the Room. Inside, they found a list of the world's top ten greatest treasures. This gave them a new goal.

Soon, a speedboat started following them. They were taken to a man named Louie Louie. People called him the Big Man. He had done many deals with their father before. Louie Louie said he needed something their father had promised him. In return, he would give them a special bee amulet. He would also fix The Lost for them.

A Tricky Situation

Tommy took a girl named Daphne on a tour of the ship. Bick and Beck secretly searched her. They found out she was trying to steal an African mask. It was called a mwana pwo mask. Louie Louie took the mask. It was the item he wanted. He then gave the Kidds the bee amulet.

Inside the bee amulet, they found a map. It was titled Cordoba's Lost Fleet. This fleet was a group of ships that carried gold and silver. They went missing after a hurricane. But the map turned out to be a fake! It was left by Nathan Collier. He was a treasure hunter and a big rival of their parents.

Escaping Trouble

Nathan Collier told the police where the Kidds were. The police were about to take them to an orphanage. But Storm knew about the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. This is a set of rules about the ocean. Her knowledge helped them stay free. Later, they learned that their friend Solomon's smart ideas helped them find their dad.

Tommy then shared a secret. Their father had found two of Cordoba's lost fleet ships. This happened soon after Bick and Beck were born. Their dad said they should only reveal the treasure if the family needed money. They took most of the treasure from the ships. They left some behind for others to find.

New Friends and Old Enemies

The Kidds used Louie Louie's contacts. They sold the treasure to his friend in Miami. Soon after, Timothy arrived on their ship. He was their father's overseer. He announced he would be living with them.

Not long after, speedboats with pirates started following The Lost. The pirates demanded the key to the Room. The Kidds lied and said they didn't have it. The pirates then kidnapped Beck. They used a special device to check if she was lying. But Beck was clever! She tricked the pirates. She even stole a bottle of a truth serum from them. The pirates then gave her back to Timothy.

A Surprising Secret

The Kidds started to suspect Timothy. After he fell asleep, they used the truth serum on him. He then revealed a big secret! He was an agent for the CIA. He also said that their parents were secret agents too! They worked for him. The Kidds decided to trust Timothy. They let him go to do his job.

But the pirates had been spying on them. They used a long-range listening device. They came back for the Kidds. However, the Kidds tricked them into jumping off the ship. Then, Nathan Collier suddenly showed up. He had tracked Tommy's satellite phone. He took the key from the Kidds. He checked the Room but found nothing inside.

The Search for the Urn

The Kidds then traveled to Portia Macy Hudson. She was a collector of old and valuable items. They traded the bee amulet for a special Grecian Urn. Daphne, the girl from before, arrived. She told them she was Portia's daughter. She had tried to take the African mask directly to Louie. She wanted to trade it for the bee amulet.

The Kidds found Dr. Lewis. He was Louie's brother. He told them the Grecian Urn was famous. It was mentioned in a poem by the English poet John Keats. The poem was called "Ode on a Grecian Urn".

The Truth About Their Mother

Dr. Lewis told the Kidds the real story about their mother's kidnapping. Aramis, also known as the pirate king, had sent their mother. He wanted her to check if a Grecian urn the pirates had was real. It turned out to be a fake. The pirates were very angry that their deal was broken. They kidnapped their mother for telling the truth.

The Kidds tried to take the real Urn to the pirates to free their mother. But a group of girls working for Nathan Collier stole it from them. The Kidds had no other choice. They went to Aramis. They had papers that proved the urn was real.

A Daring Rescue and a Happy Ending

When the Kidds got close to the urn, they grabbed it and ran! Suddenly, CIA agents arrived. They were led by Uncle Timothy. They arrested Aramis. But Aramis could only save their mother from the pirates if he made a deal. He made the call to stop the pirates from hurting their mother. He was set free, but his valuable items were taken.

Later, the Kidds received an email. It was from their father! They were very happy. At the end of the book, Bick, who is the narrator, reveals a secret. He was the one who sent the email. He did it to make his family happy. He wanted them to think their father was alive. He tells the readers not to tell anyone his secret.
