A Look Back in Time
Before European settlers arrived, the Trebonne area was home to the Warakamai People.
The town gets its name from Trebonne Creek. A sugar planter named Leon Burguez likely named the creek in the 1870s.
Schools and Care
The first school in the area, called Upper Trebonne Provisional School, opened in 1906. It became Upper Trebonne State School in 1909 and was later renamed Trebonne State School around 1932.
Another school, Canossa Catholic Primary School, opened in 1951. It was run by the Canossia Daughters of Charity. This school closed its doors in December 2013.
The Canossia sisters also opened a special home for older people in 1966. In 2022, another group called OzCare took over running this facility.
