Trenton Marcus Grisham (born November 1, 1996) is a professional baseball player. He plays as a center fielder for the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball (MLB). Before joining the Yankees, he played for the Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres.

Trent was born and grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a top baseball player in high school. The Brewers picked him in the first round of the 2015 MLB draft. After playing in their minor league teams for five years, he made his MLB debut in 2019.

Later, Trent moved to the Padres. He became their main center fielder. In 2020, he won his first Gold Glove Award. This award is for the best defensive players. He won another Gold Glove in 2022. In 2023, he was traded to the Yankees.

Trent Grisham's Early Life and Career

High School Baseball Star

Trent Grisham went to Richland High School in North Richland Hills, Texas. He played both baseball and football there. In his junior year, he hit really well, with a .441 average and ten home runs. As a senior, his average was even higher at .552.

During the summer after his junior year, he played for the 18-under Team USA. He was amazing, hitting .538 with 24 runs batted in (RBIs). He also stole ten bases. Trent planned to play college baseball at Texas Tech University.

Starting with the Milwaukee Brewers

Trent Grisham was seen as one of the best young players for the 2015 MLB draft. The Milwaukee Brewers chose him as the 15th overall pick. He signed with them and started his professional journey.

He played for the Arizona League Brewers and then the Helena Brewers. In 55 games, he had a .309 batting average. In 2016, he played for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. He only played 59 games that year because of hamstring injuries.

In 2017, Trent played for the Carolina Mudcats. He hit eight home runs and stole 37 bases. The next year, 2018, he played for the Biloxi Shuckers. He hit seven home runs and stole 11 bases. He started the 2019 season with the San Antonio Missions.

On August 1, 2019, the Brewers called Trent up to the major leagues. He played his first MLB game that day against the Oakland Athletics.

Playing for the San Diego Padres

On November 27, 2019, Trent Grisham was traded to the San Diego Padres. He moved there with another player, Zach Davies.

On August 22, 2020, Trent had an amazing game. He hit two home runs early in the game against the Houston Astros. Later, he hit a third home run! This was his first game with three home runs.

Trent finished the short 2020 season with a .251 batting average. He hit 10 home runs and had 26 RBIs in 59 games. He also won the National League Gold Glove Award for center fielders. This award shows he was the best defensive player in his position.

Trent started the 2021 season on the injured list due to a hamstring strain. He came back to play on April 9. He also missed 20 games later that season because of a heel injury. Trent was the main center fielder for the Padres, starting 118 games. He hit 15 home runs and had 62 RBIs in 132 games.

In 2022, his batting average was .184. This was the lowest among qualified batters in the major leagues. However, he still played great defense. He won his second career Gold Glove Award that year.

On January 13, 2023, Trent signed a contract with the Padres for $3.175 million.

Joining the New York Yankees

On December 6, 2023, the Padres traded Trent Grisham to the New York Yankees. He was traded along with another star player, Juan Soto. In return, the Padres received several players.

In 2024, Trent played in 76 games for the Yankees. He hit 9 home runs and had 31 RBIs.

Trent Grisham was born and grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. His first last name was Clark. In 2017, he changed his last name to Grisham. This is his mother's last name.

Trent is married to Megan Grisham. He is also a follower of the Christian faith.
