Where is Trenton Located?
Trenton is found at 38°36′21″N 89°40′54″W / 38.60583°N 89.68167°W. It covers an area of about 1.31 square miles (3.4 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
A Look at Trenton's Past
Early Days and Settlers
In 1810, a fort was built here by Nathaniel Journey. It helped with military efforts against Native Americans. Later, in the 1830s, many families from Germany came to settle in this area.
Churches and Community Growth
The first church in Trenton was a Presbyterian Church. It was started in 1837. A Methodist church opened the next year. A Catholic church was built in 1864. Trenton, Illinois, was named after Trenton, New Jersey.
