Trenton Lavar Hassell (born March 4, 1979) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played as a guard and forward. Trenton was chosen by the Chicago Bulls in the 2001 NBA draft. He was the 30th player picked overall.

Early Life and College Basketball
Trenton Hassell grew up in Clarksville, Tennessee. He went to Clarksville High School and finished in 1997. One of his teammates there was Shawn Marion, who also became an NBA player. Trenton was known as one of the best high school basketball players in Tennessee.
After high school, Trenton went to Austin Peay State University. He played college basketball for the Austin Peay Governors. He played for three seasons, from 1997 to 2001. In 2002, Austin Peay honored Trenton by retiring his college jersey number, 44. This means no other player at Austin Peay will wear that number. In 2006, he was added to the Austin Peay Athletics Hall of Fame.
Playing in the NBA
Trenton Hassell started his professional career with the Chicago Bulls. This was during the 2001-02 season. He played in 78 games and started 47 of them. He averaged about 8.7 points per game. In his second season with the Bulls, he played in all 82 games.
In 2003, Trenton joined the Minnesota Timberwolves. He became a regular starter for the team. He was known for being a strong defensive player. He helped the Timberwolves reach the NBA Western Conference Finals. This was the first time the team had made it that far. Trenton played four seasons with the Timberwolves.
Later, Trenton was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 2007. He then moved to the New Jersey Nets in 2008. His last NBA game was on March 24, 2010. He played for the Nets in that game.
After the NBA
In 2011, Trenton Hassell played for the Clarksville Cavaliers. This team is part of the American Basketball Association (ABA).
Coaching Career
Today, Trenton Hassell is a basketball coach. He is the head coach for the girls' basketball team at Clarksville Christian School.
