Trevor James Morgan (born September 30, 1956) is an English football coach and a former player. He played as a forward and later became a successful coach for many teams around the world.

Playing Football

Trevor Morgan played as a centre-forward, which means he was a player who mainly tried to score goals. He started his professional career in 1980 with AFC Bournemouth. He played over 400 games for many different clubs in the lower football leagues.

In 1987, he joined Bristol City from their rival team, Bristol Rovers. This was a big move because players rarely switched between these two clubs. In fact, no other player made the same move for 30 years! Trevor helped Bristol City get promoted to the Third Division that season by scoring several important goals.

Becoming a Coach

Trevor Morgan's first coaching job was as an assistant coach for Birmingham City. He worked with a coach named Terry Cooper, who had signed Trevor as a player four times before. Trevor then followed Cooper to Exeter, but he left when the club faced financial problems.

His next adventure took him to Australia. He became a coach at a club called Sorrento FC in Perth. While living there, he also became an Australian citizen.

Coaching in Asia

After four years in Australia, Trevor moved to Singapore to manage Sengkang Marine FC. In 2004, he went to Malaysia to coach Sarawak FA in the new Malaysia Super League. However, the team did not do well, and Trevor was replaced.

He then returned to his old club, Sengkang Marine, which had been renamed Sengkang Punggol FC. He coached them from 2006 to 2007. Later, he went back to Sorrento before getting a job as a Development Coach at Hull City in England. A Development Coach helps young players improve their skills.

Success in India

In 2010, Trevor Morgan joined Kingfisher East Bengal F.C. in India. He quickly made a big impact! In his very first competition, the Federation Cup, he led East Bengal to victory. They beat their rivals, Mohun Bagan A.C., in the final game.

That same season, his team also won the Kolkata Premier League and the Mohammedan Platinum Jubilee Cup. They finished second in the I-League, which is India's top football league.

In the 2011–12 season, Kingfisher East Bengal finished second in the I-League again. They also came second in the Federation Cup but won the IFA Shield and the Super Cup. On May 14, 2012, Trevor guided East Bengal to win the Calcutta Premier League for the third time that season. However, he resigned that day, saying he had disagreements with club officials. But the officials talked to him, and he agreed to stay for the next season (2012–2013).

Under his coaching, Kingfisher East Bengal won the Federation Cup and Calcutta League again. He helped the club stay unbeaten for a record 30 games in a row in one year! They finally lost a game on their home ground. Trevor also gained international fame when his team beat Tampines Rovers 4–2 in Singapore in 2013.

Under his guidance, East Bengal reached the quarterfinals of the 2013 AFC Cup without losing a single game. This was a huge achievement for an Indian club!

On April 9, 2013, Trevor announced he would leave Kingfisher East Bengal. He wanted to spend more time with his family in Perth, Australia. He said his decision was not about money. On May 23, 2013, his team won the Calcutta Football League for the 34th time, making it three wins in a row. That day, he officially left East Bengal after three successful years. He is known as one of the most successful foreign coaches in Indian football history.

Later Coaching Roles

On October 28, 2015, the Indian Super League team Kerala Blasters FC announced Trevor Morgan as their new Head Coach. However, just three days later, he was moved back to an assistant coach role.

On April 14, 2016, Kingfisher East Bengal F.C. announced that Trevor Morgan would return as their head coach for a second time. In December 2018, he became an assistant coach for FC Pune City.

In August 2020, United City F.C. in the Philippines announced Trevor as their head coach. But he could not coach the team for the 2020 season. This was because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the league being held in a "bubble" (a safe, isolated area). Another coach, Frank Muescan, stepped in to lead the team instead.

Personal Life

Trevor Morgan was born very close to Upton Park, the stadium of West Ham United. Because of this, he is a big fan of the West Ham team. He has three grown-up children who still live in Australia.
