Trevor Stewart's Running Journey
Early Days and College
Trevor grew up in Lorton, Virginia. He went to South County High School there. After high school, he attended North Carolina A&T State University. While at college, a coach named Duane Ross helped him train.
In 2019, Trevor showed how fast he was. He finished second in the 400-meter race at the NCAA championships. This big college sports event was held in Austin, Texas. Trevor ran his fastest time ever, 44.25 seconds. This was one of the top speeds in the world that year for the 400 meters.
Road to the Olympics
Trevor kept working hard. In 2021, he competed in another NCAA 400-meter race. This time, it was at the University of Oregon in Eugene. He finished fourth with a time of 44.96 seconds.
Later that year, Trevor aimed for the Olympics. He took part in the US Olympic Trials. These trials decide which athletes will represent the USA at the Olympics. Trevor ran very well in the 400-meter heats, having the fastest time. He then placed fifth in the semifinal.
Olympic Glory in Tokyo
In the final race of the Olympic Trials, Trevor finished fourth. This amazing result meant he qualified for the relay team at the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo. The 2020 Olympics were actually held in 2021 due to world events.
