Triesenberg is a lovely municipality in the small country of Liechtenstein. It is home to 2,636 people and covers an area of about 29.69 square kilometers. This makes Triesenberg the largest municipality in Liechtenstein! The main part of Triesenberg is located high up in the mountains, at an elevation of around 884 to 1,000 meters.

History of Triesenberg

Triesenberg is famous for its special way of speaking, called a dialect. This unique dialect comes from people called Walser migrants. They moved to this area in the early 1300s, during the Middle Ages. The local government of Triesenberg actively works to keep this dialect alive.

It's amazing that such a small country like Liechtenstein has so many different ways of speaking! Besides the Triesenberg dialect, people also speak Standard German and another dialect called Alemannic German.
