The Trimbelle River is a cool river in western Wisconsin, United States. It flows for about 29.4 miles (47.3 km). This river is special because it's a tributary of the mighty Mississippi River. A tributary is like a smaller river or stream that flows into a larger one.

Where Does the Trimbelle River Flow?

The Trimbelle River starts in a town called Martell, Wisconsin. From there, it travels generally south. It flows through several other towns in Pierce County. These towns include River Falls, Trimbelle, Trenton, and Diamond Bluff.

Journey to the Mississippi

After its journey through these towns, the Trimbelle River reaches its end. It flows into the Mississippi River. This meeting point is located about 5 miles (8 km) west of Bay City. So, the Trimbelle River helps feed water into one of the biggest rivers in North America!

Home to Trout

The Trimbelle River is known for its fish. The state of Wisconsin has named it a "Class II trout stream." This means it's a great place for brown trout to live and grow. A Class II stream has a good number of trout, and they can even reproduce there naturally.

Helping the River Thrive

People care a lot about keeping the Trimbelle River healthy. A group called Trout Unlimited works to protect and improve trout habitats. Their local chapter, KIAPTUWISH, has done a lot of work on the Trimbelle River. They have helped restore several parts of the river. This restoration work makes the river an even better home for the brown trout and other wildlife.
