Early Life and Nickname
Trinny Woodall is the youngest of six children. Her father was a banker. Her grandfather, Sir John Duncanson, was important in the British steel industry during and after World War II.
When Trinny was five, a family friend, Ronald Searle, who created the St Trinian cartoons, gave her the nickname "Trinny." This happened after she cut off another student's hair braid at school, and he thought she was a bit mischievous, like a St Trinian girl. The name stuck!
Trinny went to boarding schools from the age of six, including Queen's Gate School in London. She also attended schools in France and Germany when she was a teenager. During her school years, she sometimes felt that her older sister, who was very popular, overshadowed her.
