Tristan Gabriel Pompey (born March 23, 1997) is a Canadian professional baseball player. He plays as an outfielder for the Lexington Legends. This team is part of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. The Miami Marlins chose him in the 2018 baseball draft. This happened after he played college baseball for the Kentucky Wildcats.

Tristan Pompey's Baseball Journey

Early Years and College Baseball

Tristan Pompey played in a special baseball event called Tournament 12. He also played for Canada's national junior baseball team. He went to Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School in Milton, Ontario. He finished school there in 2015.

After high school, he decided to play college baseball at the University of Kentucky. The Minnesota Twins picked him in the 2015 MLB draft. But he chose not to sign with them. Instead, he went to the University of Kentucky.

He was named an All-Southeastern Conference player in 2017. This was during his second year of college. In 2018, he was named a Preseason All-American. He played summer baseball in 2017 for the Wareham Gatemen. In his third year (2018), he had a batting average of .335.

Playing for the Miami Marlins

The Miami Marlins chose Tristan in the third round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft. He was the 89th player picked overall. He signed a contract with the Marlins.

The Marlins sent him to play for their minor league teams. He played for the Gulf Coast League Marlins. Then he moved up to the Greensboro Grasshoppers. After that, he played for the Jupiter Hammerheads.

In 52 games across these teams, he hit well. He had three home runs and 23 runs batted in (RBIs). He also stole ten bases.

In 2019, Pompey played for the Jupiter Hammerheads again. He played 42 games that season. He did not play in 2020. This was because the minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, he played for the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos. He also played for the Triple-A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. His time with the Marlins organization ended in 2022.

Moving to Other Teams

After leaving the Marlins, Tristan Pompey joined other baseball teams. On June 21, 2022, he signed with the Winnipeg Goldeyes. This team is in the American Association of Professional Baseball. He played only 7 games for them.

On July 5, 2022, he was traded to the Québec Capitales. This team is in the Frontier League. He played 46 games for Québec. He hit 4 home runs and had 13 RBIs. He left the Capitales in December 2022.
