The Train Accident of 1956

On May 15, 1956, something unusual happened in Troublesome. Two large freight trains crashed into each other. This happened on the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad tracks. Four people who worked on the trains were injured.

The accident happened because the crew of one train was distracted. They were talking and did not notice important signals. These signals told them to slow down and wait for another train. After the crash, a special safety film was even made. It was called Some Trouble at Troublesome. The film explained what caused the accident and what happened afterward.
