Troy Roberts started his career in television in 1985. He worked at KPIX-TV in San Francisco. He was a host and producer for a weekly news show. From 1987 to 1990, he reported for KATU-TV in Portland.
In 1990, he moved to New York City. He joined WCBS-TV, a CBS station. He reported for their morning show. He also anchored local news segments for CBS Morning News.
