Trump Park Avenue is a tall building in New York City. It is located on Park Avenue in an area called Manhattan. This 32-story building was designed by Goldner and Goldner. It has 120 fancy apartments called condominiums and 8 special penthouses. A real estate developer named Donald Trump changed the building into these homes.

About Trump Park Avenue

This building has a long and interesting history. It was first built in 1929. Back then, it was a very tall hotel.

A Hotel with History

The building started as the Viceroy Hotel. Over time, its name changed a few times. It was also known as the Cromwell Arms and the Hotel Delmonico. In 1929, a New York investor named Benjamin Winter, Sr. bought the building.

Famous Visitors

A very cool event happened here in 1964. On August 28, Bob Dylan met The Beatles and their manager, Brian Epstein. This first meeting took place in their suite on the sixth floor. The hotel was super busy during their two-day stay. The switchboard received 200,000 phone calls! Fans stood many people deep outside. Police officers had to patrol the lobby and hallways.

Changes Over Time

In 1974, the building was changed from a hotel into apartments. Later, in 1977, a famous auction house called Christie's rented the hotel's big ballroom. They used it as their first international auction house. An auction house is a place where valuable items are sold to the highest bidder.

In 1990, another real estate investor, Sarah Korein, changed it back into a hotel. Then, in 2001, Donald Trump bought the hotel. He paid $115 million for it. He then hired an architect named Costas Kondylis to make it new and modern.

Past Businesses

From 1976 to the early 1990s, a popular restaurant and lounge called Regine's was on the ground floor. Many famous people would go there before heading to Studio 54. Andy Warhol, a famous artist, was a regular visitor. The building is also home to other well-known businesses. For example, Scully & Scully, a store, has been there since 1934.

Interesting Facts

In 2011, there was a story about Donald Trump and a famous writer named Arianna Huffington. It was said that Trump raised the rent of an apartment to a very high amount. This was supposedly to keep her from moving into the building.
