Alexei Petrovich Romanov (Russian: Алексей Петрович) was a Russian Tsarevich. This means he was the son of the Tsar, the ruler of Russia. He was born in Moscow on February 28, 1690. His father was Tsar Peter I, a very famous Russian leader. His mother was Eudoxia Lopukhina. Alexei was expected to become the next Tsar.

Life of Tsarevich Alexei
Alexei Petrovich was the oldest son of Peter the Great. He was born when his father was still young. As the Tsarevich, Alexei was trained to take over the throne. He learned about government and military matters.
Early Years and Education
Alexei grew up in a time of big changes in Russia. His father, Peter the Great, wanted to make Russia more like Western European countries. Alexei received an education that included different subjects. He learned languages and history.
Family and Marriage
In 1711, Alexei married Charlotte Christine of Brunswick-Lüneburg. She was a German princess. They had two children together. Their daughter was Grand Duchess Natalia Alexeievna. Their son was Peter II, who later became Tsar of Russia.
Challenges and Later Life
Alexei's relationship with his father, Peter the Great, was often difficult. They had different ideas about how Russia should be ruled. Peter wanted his son to be a strong and modern leader. However, Alexei preferred a more traditional way of life.
Disagreements with Peter the Great
These differences caused many problems between father and son. Peter the Great was very strict. He expected Alexei to follow his plans for Russia. Alexei, however, found it hard to meet his father's high expectations.
Alexei's Death
Alexei Petrovich died on July 7, 1718, in Petropavlovskaya fortress in Saint Petersburg. He was 28 years old. His death was a sad event for the Romanov family.
