The Tsimshian Tribal Council was a group that represented several First Nation communities of the Tsimshian people. This council was located in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Its main job was to work with the Canadian government on land agreements, which is part of something called the British Columbia Treaty Process. The Tsimshian Tribal Council worked on these talks until late 2005. At that time, the council stopped operating because of disagreements and problems within the group.

Council History
The Tsimshian Tribal Council was created in 1988. It was formed to speak for several Tsimshian communities. In 1994, the council began talks for a big treaty agreement. This was after the British Columbia Treaty Process officially started.
However, in April 2004, the council broke apart because of disagreements among its members. These disagreements were mostly about how to handle the treaty negotiations. A new council, called the Tsimshian First Nations, was then formed in December 2004. This new group continued the treaty process, but it did not include the Gitxaala Nation or the Lax-kw'alaams First Nation.
