Who is Tsugumi Ohba?
Tsugumi Ohba's real identity is a big secret. Ohba once said they never planned to become a manga creator. They thought their first comic, Death Note, would not be chosen by the magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump.
Ohba has said that other manga creators like Shotaro Ishinomori, Fujiko Fujio, and Fujio Akatsuka have really inspired them. Even though Ohba is a writer, they do not read much. Instead, they watch many movies. They especially love films by Akira Kurosawa and Charlie Chaplin. Ohba's favorite movie type is comedy. They like Japanese films more than American ones.
The author has described themselves as someone who likes things very clean. They usually clean their home once a day. Ohba also enjoys art prints called lithographs. They collect teacups. When thinking up new manga stories, Ohba often sits on a chair with their knees pulled up. This is similar to a habit of L, a main character in Death Note.
