Tsukasa Shiotani (塩谷 司, Shiotani Tsukasa, born 5 December 1988) is a Japanese professional footballer. He plays as a centre-back for Sanfrecce Hiroshima. Sometimes, he also plays as a defensive midfielder.
Tsukasa Shiotani is a very successful player. He has won many trophies during his career. As of 2025, he has won 8 major awards. He was also chosen for the J.League Team of the Year three times in a row. This happened from 2014 to 2016.

Starting with Mito HollyHock
Tsukasa Shiotani began his professional football journey with Mito HollyHock. He played for them from 2011 to 2012. During his time there, he showed great skill as a defender.
First Time at Sanfrecce Hiroshima
In 2012, Shiotani joined Sanfrecce Hiroshima. This was a big step in his career. He quickly became a key player for the team. With Sanfrecce Hiroshima, he helped them win the J1 League three times. These wins were in 2012, 2013, and 2015. He was also named in the J.League Best XI (meaning the best team of the year) in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
Playing for Al Ain in UAE
In June 2017, Shiotani moved to Al Ain, a club in the United Arab Emirates. This was a new challenge for him. He continued to play as a strong defender. A memorable moment came in the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup final. He scored a goal against the famous team Real Madrid. Al Ain finished as runners-up in that tournament.
Returning to Sanfrecce Hiroshima
On October 1, 2021, Tsukasa Shiotani made a big decision. He returned to his former club, Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He quickly rejoined the team and helped them achieve more success. In 2022, he was part of the team that won the 2022 J.League Cup. He also helped Sanfrecce Hiroshima win the 2025 Japanese Super Cup.

Playing for Japan's National Team
Tsukasa Shiotani has also represented his country, Japan. In December 2014, he was called up to the Japan squad for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup. This is a major football tournament for Asian countries.
Olympic Games Experience
In July 2016, Shiotani was chosen for the Japan U-23 national team. He was one of three older players allowed to join the team for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. He played in all three matches at the Olympics. He formed a strong defense with his teammate Naomichi Ueda.
AFC Asian Cup 2019
Shiotani was called up again for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup in December 2018. During this competition, he scored his first goal for Japan. This happened on January 17, 2019, against Uzbekistan. It was a special moment because he scored at the Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium, which is also the home stadium of his club, Al Ain. He played in the final match, where Japan unfortunately lost to Qatar.
