Komatsushima (小松島市, Komatsushima-shi) is a city located in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan. As of June 30, 2022, about 36,128 people lived here. They lived in 17,181 homes. The city covers an area of 45.37 square kilometers.

Geography and Climate
Komatsushima is in the eastern part of Tokushima Prefecture. It is south of Tokushima city. The city faces the Kii Channel, which is a body of water. Komatsushima is built on the land formed by the Katsuura River. Mountains surround the city on its land sides.

History of Komatsushima
The area where Komatsushima is now was once part of Awa Province. This was a very old region of Japan.
Important Events
- Genpei War Landing: During the Genpei War, a famous general named Minamoto no Yoshitsune landed here. He came to Shikoku to fight against the Heike clan. This happened before the Battle of Yashima.
- Edo Period Port: In the Edo period (1603-1868), Komatsushima was an important port. It was used to ship goods, especially indigo. Indigo is a blue dye that was a big product from this area.
- Becoming a City: The village of Komatsushima was officially created on October 1, 1889. It became a town on November 1, 1908. Later, it grew by adding nearby towns. Komatsushima officially became a city on June 1, 1951.
