Tuggen is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the March District in the canton of Schwyz in Switzerland. It is a place with a long history and beautiful natural surroundings.

What is Tuggen's History?

Long ago, around the year 610, two Irish missionaries named Columban and Gall came to Tuggen. They wanted to live there. However, Gall burned down a local pagan holy place. Because of this, they had to leave the area. Today, Saint Gall is shown on Tuggen's coat of arms.

Tuggen covers an area of about 13.6 square kilometers (5.25 square miles). A large part of this land, about 62.7%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 22.1% of the area. Buildings and roads make up 11.6% of the land. The rest, about 3.6%, is made up of rivers or other natural areas. The Buechberg hill is also located within the municipality. There used to be a lake called Tuggenersee which was named after the town.
